According to the interpretation that all interpreters agree on, a beautiful and delicious meal is interpreted as charity, sustenance, wealth and happiness; eating hot and peppery food is interpreted as grief, sadness; eating sour food is interpreted as illness and distress. Stinky, spoiled food indicates haram.
